Winter 2008

This is something new that I am putting on my webpage to let everyone that visits keep up with the latest news and what I am doing. I want to wish everyone the best New Year and a hope that our country will survive and prosper into 2009. With that being said I am announcing a small book that will be published in late summer of my small paintings. The book will be available through my website or at Stellers Gallery. I am mad at work at this collection of paintings. I will keep you all abreast of the progress and maybe even a sneak peak in the spring. I want to thank all those that have collected my work and continue to do so and this will be a table top book that you will want to add to your collection.

Please come back and check often and email me if you wish me to put you on my mailing list for new work when it becomes available.

January 2009

Normally I would wait for a few months to write any thoughts or news but I felt giving credit to a favorite artist icon that has recently passed is monumental. Andrew Wyeth passed away quietly in his sleep on January 16, 2009 at the age of 91. He will be missed and his art will transcend time. I have a video clip of an interview that is on my facebook page (just look up CtCummins) and I encourage you all to go and listen to him. He states that it is magic that happens in a studio and I hold that dear to my heart.

Spring is certainly trying to take it's time coming this year. I am hopeful that our country will survive it's current state of being. After painting "Moments of Tranquility" , I realize how loud our lives have become and complicated by all the gadgets we now fill our life with. I would encourage people to take a moment of time and more than ome minute to enjoy silence and the beauty of nature and one anouther.

Summer is about to start. I find that all I can think about is the current condition of our country and if this is the change that we signed up for. I feel artists should stick to art and not to the news of the day. As an artist I think I have a chance to show the beauty in the simple. Most people have forgotten in the busy life of cell phones, computers, texting and trying to take the time to see that even nature has a way with all the changes to remain breathtakingly beautiful even when it changes every day. So yes we are in some sort of change as Americans but we have always been in this state and should take our cue from the land that tomorrow does come and it will be different yet. Enjoy your summer with family and friends and the simple things in life.

November 2009
It seems a lifetime ago that I posted a thought or a painting. I have been painting always but I wanted to share a bit of a personal journey. I felt my paintings still needed to reach a different level more in what I truly believe. I really couldn't change brush stroke or palette as that made little difference. So I decided it was me that needed the new palette. I look at life and the country we are in and see many dissatisfied people. I just wanted a huge change. I don't want to be a part of the same pack mentality. I dug deep and was introduced to a lot of positive motivation. It's a choice to be happy and enthused. To know that it was up to me to change my point of view and vision. I have been on this quest and it has made a huge difference and I hope that in just the most recent paintings you will tell it is of a lighter heart. We are all here for such a short time and I would rather impact people with hope, health and happiness than what is being fed on the news channels. You can really only change two things : your atitude and your activities.

May 2010

Six months have gone by and I just cannot believe life is speeding by. I am painting and not posting art as you may have noticed. Like many of us I like to eat and live in my home so to work I must go. This is taking up more of my time than I would hope. I do dream about art all during the day and think about painting. Those artists that are fortunate enough to paint and not have to work I applaud you and pray that never changes. God willing I will join you all soon. I encourage those that are out and about that you take the time to see the beauty in life and your surroundings. Enjoy springtime!!!!!

Well living is not for the weak that is for sure. We will be moving to Florida to permanently relocate. California is for the very rich and the very poor and some that are struggling to stay here. I feel we can no longer struggle to stay here as it effects our family and peace of mind. I greatly look forward to a fresh new start even at my age. I will miss so many great friends and hope they all come and visit me as I have a standing open room invitation to them. Forward ho to Jacksonville, Florida where the meanest things are the fire ants and the mosquitos.

I've been in Florida now for five weeks and I really enjoy the south and the people here. I am going out for my first painting adventure and I hope not to come across any alligators. I look forward to lots of adventures here and many new paintings. As the season approaches us all I wish everyone a peaceful and blessed Christmas. May your holidays be filled with your family and friends and all that you enjoy! Live Passionately!!!!!!!

October 2011

I can hardly believe that it has been almost a year since I have posted any news. I still love Florida now that I have survived the first summer and a brutal one at that. I have been painting less and less and found more in the three dimentional realm. My jewelry and fiber arts is going great and I have decided to stay with only one medium. I will continue to keep my painting site up as I have some awesome paintings available. I will be posting more and more jewelry when it becomes available. Right now I'm teaching and have almost a dozen orders to be filled and unlike Santa I have no elves. Stay tuned and come back and maybe something will tickle your fancy and you will just have to have it. Don't worry if it is not your color way as this is changeable. I thank all the people that come and see my art as ART IS MY PASSION!
