Winter 2008

This is something new that I am putting on my webpage to let everyone that visits keep up with the latest news and what I am doing. I want to wish everyone the best New Year and a hope that our country will survive and prosper into 2009. With that being said I am announcing a small book that will be published in late summer of my small paintings. The book will be available through my website or at Stellers Gallery. I am mad at work at this collection of paintings. I will keep you all abreast of the progress and maybe even a sneak peak in the spring. I want to thank all those that have collected my work and continue to do so and this will be a table top book that you will want to add to your collection.

Please come back and check often and email me if you wish me to put you on my mailing list for new work when it becomes available.

January 2009

Normally I would wait for a few months to write any thoughts or news but I felt giving credit to a favorite artist icon that has recently passed is monumental. Andrew Wyeth passed away quietly in his sleep on January 16, 2009 at the age of 91. He will be missed and his art will transcend time. I have a video clip of an interview that is on my facebook page (just look up CtCummins) and I encourage you all to go and listen to him. He states that it is magic that happens in a studio and I hold that dear to my heart.

Spring is certainly trying to take it's time coming this year. I am hopeful that our country will survive it's current state of being. After painting "Moments of Tranquility" , I realize how loud our lives have become and complicated by all the gadgets we now fill our life with. I would encourage people to take a moment of time and more than ome minute to enjoy silence and the beauty of nature and one anouther.

Summer is about to start. I find that all I can think about is the current condition of our country and if this is the change that we signed up for. I feel artists should stick to art and not to the news of the day. As an artist I think I have a chance to show the beauty in the simple. Most people have forgotten in the busy life of cell phones, computers, texting and trying to take the time to see that even nature has a way with all the changes to remain breathtakingly beautiful even when it changes every day. So yes we are in some sort of change as Americans but we have always been in this state and should take our cue from the land that tomorrow does come and it will be different yet. Enjoy your summer with family and friends and the simple things in life.

It seems a lifetime ago that I posted a thought or a painting. I have been painting always but I wanted to share a bit of a personal journey. I felt my paintings still needed to reach a different level more in what I truly believe. I really couldn't change brush stroke or palette as that made little difference. So I decided it was me that needed the new palette. I look at life and the country we are in and see many dissatisfied people. I just wanted a huge change. I don't want to be a part of the same pack mentality. I dug deep and was introduced to a lot of positive motivation. It's a choice to be happy and enthused. To know that it was up to me to change my point of view and vision. I have been on this quest and it has made a huge difference and I hope that in just the most recent paintings you will tell it is of a lighter heart. We are all here for such a short time and I would rather impact people with hope, health and happiness than what is being fed on the news channels. You can really only change two things : your atitude and your activities.
